Identitá Golose, one of the most prestigious international culinary organizations highlighting the best of contemporary Italian cuisine, comes to the United States for the debut of the Italian Food & Wine Festival taking place in Chicago October 14-16. Eataly Chicago will host the series of events, each of which feature some of Italy’s most lauded culinary heroes, as well as masters of modern American cuisine.
For its inaugural year in the Windy City, Identitá Golose will partner with Merano WineFestival to host the three-day Italian Food & Wine Festival showcasing the great wines and renowned cuisine of Italy through a series of carefully curated events.
The Italian Food & Wine Festival begins with a four-course dinner that brings together two acclaimed Italian chefs, Ugo Alciati and Davide Oldani, and two of Eataly’s own, Executive Chef Alex Pilas and Pastry Chef Katia Delogu, at Baffo at Eataly. Chef Lidia Bastianich will lead the team of culinary luminaries, presenting guests with a communal dining experience showcasing progressive Italian dishes and wine pairings.
The following day, Identitá Golose and the Merano WineFestival will host a one-time- only tasting event pairing 100 of Italy’s most important wines from 30 of the country’s most acclaimed wineries with bites utilizing Italian products at La Scuola—Eataly Chicago’s cooking school. The Merano WineFestival, founded in 1992 by Helmuth Köcher, is one of the world’s largest and most exclusive wine events celebrating the finest selections of Italian and international wines.
Identitá Golose will also present two head-to-head chef demonstrations, each with a key ingredient. Each seminar, the chefs will be tasked to create their best dish, the first demonstration using truffles and the second using rice. The hour-long seminars will take place inside La Scuola.
Identitá Golose, founded in 2004 by Italian food journalist Paolo Marchi, is a culinary organization with a mission to highlight the best of contemporary Italian cuisine, showcase the culinary excellence of each Italian region, and honor the top Italian chefs who proudly blend traditional techniques with modern methods. The first Identitá Golose event was held in Milan in 2005, and six events have been held since, each one showcasing the greatest Italian and international chefs, pastry chefs, and artisanal producers. The success of Identitá Golose in Italy eventually led to the launch of Identitá London in 2009. Following the success of the London event, Identitá Golose decided to share the talent of Italy’s finest chefs with an American audience. The first Identitá Golose New York took place in 2010 at Eataly, and the inaugural Italian Food & Wine Festival will take place in October 2014.
