Hostelling International Chicago hosted the Peace Conference: Disruptive Thinking, on Oct. 27-28, 2012.
The conference’s goal was to promote peace through innovative thinking, pushing traditional boundaries, and active participation in Chicago’s communities.
Conference registrants had the opportunity to attend workshops and roundtable discussions with diverse local experts and community leaders. They attended a film screening and discussion presented by the Peace on Earth Film Festival, enjoyed an interactive, multicultural music and dance showcase presented by Old Town School of Folk Music, and benefited from built-in networking time.
Workshop topics included peace through travel, sustainable agriculture, gun violence in Chicago, women’s empowerment and peace; art and social justice; Israeli-Palestinian peace; and innovative international connections.
A keynote presentation was held by disruptive thinker Dr. Norman G. Finkelstein.
Hostelling International Chicago is a not-for-profit hostel located in Chicago’s South Loop, and part of the larger Hostelling International and Hostelling International USA organizations.
